From a tall boy...not sure if it is a typo, but my can says 7.2 abv, but it looks exactly like their website version of the 6.0, and that abv seems about right. I’m surprised to discover this is a rye ipa...wouldn’t have guessed it

Poured from a 16oz can...nice amber color with 1/2 inch of head that dissipated quickly...wonderfully aromatic that unfortunately gives false hope...short burst of citrus flavor up front, but with a disappointingly dry super-bitter finish...definitely a let down

Mildly cloudy golden yellow body; excellent carbonation; thick and foamy head. Excellent floral notes in the smell; tropical fruit; pineapple and papaya; pine resin. Beautiful citrus and yellow stone fruit flavors backed with a fine hop bitterness; lemon and orange; zesty, phenolic hop bitterness. Medium body; crisp with a pseudo-juiciness; has a fairly dry quality midway through and lasting through the finish.

I didn't really pick up any distinctive rye flavors or spiciness with this one. The beer is pretty solid overall, though, with a crisp and bracing usage of the hops.

16oz can dated 3/2/18 poured into a pint glass
A: Hazy orange with a 1+ finger head that slowly settles
S: Bold with rye, grapefruit, orange pith and a bit of grass/herbs/earth
T: The earth/herbs come through up front here, with rye on the midpalate then some citrus & a bit of tropical fruit towards the end
M: Medium-bodied, just a touch bitter/sour
O: I enjoy the way the bite of the rye plays off the hops. An enjoyable beer

Pours into a mug a dull as another has notes a kind of golden straw with a thinner head atop, some swirling chunkies and floaties in there.Love the aromas of tropical mango,Maui onion, and sharp rye, about as good as it gets for the style in my opinion.Kind of a mellow low carbonated feel in the mouth.A mix of mango with a mild tartness mixed with spicy rye leading into an herbal/grassy-like finish. Not overly fruity on the palate, just a good mix of everything coming together.I really enjoyed this beer, very quaffable.

Orange, mostly clear. Quickly fading head that leaves no lacing. Smells spicy and fruity. Rye and oranges. Tastes like it smells with lots of citrus and rye. Very tasty.

A: Pours a very hazy medium golden yellow in color with moderate amounts of active visible carbonation rising along the edges of the glass and moderate bright yellow + apricot colored highlights. The beer has a two finger tall sudsy foamy white head that reduces to a large patch of very thin film covering the entire surface of the beer and a thin ring at the edges of the glass. Moderate to significant amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Slightly stronger than moderate aromas of citrus/grapefruit, tropical/passionfruit, berries, and dank resinous hops over the top of just shy of moderate aromas of bready + spicy rye malts with only a hint of caramel sweetness.

T: Upfront there is a just shy of moderate flavor of bready + spicy rye malts with only a hint of caramel sweetness. That is followed by moderate to strong flavors of citrus/grapefruit, citrus/tangerine, tropical/passionfruit, berries, grassy, and dank resinous hops which impart a light amount of bitterness which fades quickly leaving spicy rye and fruity hops flavors lingering.

M: Medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Crisp initially with a smooth mid-body and a hint of dryness in the finish.

O: Really good - I love the combination of the rye with the Simcoe & Mosaic. This beer is easy to drink, just about sessionable, and enjoyable. I will definitely be picking this one up again.

CANNED 3/2/18

Hazy gold under a slim white head that pools into a bubbly ring. Fragrant green hoppy aromas: grapefruit, berry dankness, passion fruit, mango sorbet, and granola. Flavor is oily, snappy hops leaning heavily on Mosaic for tangerine and berry notes...mango, passion fruit, apricot, and grassy herbs. Subtle rye spice in the finish. Super crisp, medium bodied. Really damn tasty! Similar in character to Pernicious or Steez as far as NC IPAs go.

Appearance: Arrives goldenstraw colored at the bar; reasonably clear and capped by an inch or two of foam; strands of lacing hang around

Smell: Rye bread dominant with a grassy character; hints of berry

Taste: The rye bread malt flavor is prominent, at the outset; hints of berry develop amid the rather grassy hop notes; pithy bitterness emerges, through the middle, and blends with the spicy rye to drive home the finish

Mouthfeel: Medium body with moderate carbonation

Overall: An interesting IPA that showcases the rye; the Simcoe and Mosaic make for an interesting hop flavor combination, as well
