Honestly, I like turmeric. I really do. It's apparently damn good for you. So good that I take a capsule of BCM-95 every day. And as a spice, it can work well in combination with other spices. But as an addition to an IPA? While I wouldn't call this a failure, it was far from a home run. The aroma makes me think I should be drinking some sort of pumpkin spice IPA. And the flavor is just as if somebody overpowered my beer with a large spoonful of turmeric. Pours a cloudy yellow with a nice head. I'm sure some turmeric heads will like this, but it just wasn't for me. The turmeric is there, no doubt, but it doesn't work for me.

Very clear, golden beer with a white head that leaves a few specks of lacing. The aroma is like grapefruit, orange curry. Lots of citrus, turmeric and black pepper with some sweet malt and floral hop notes. Tastes sweet and citrusy with the turmeric as the main flavor. The beer finishes bitter and slightly spicy. Very good beer.

A: Pours a crystal clear medium to dark golden yellow in color with moderate amounts of active visible carbonation rising quickly from the bottom of the glass and faint to moderate bright yellow + burnt orange colored highlights. The beer has a three finger tall dense sudsy foamy bright white head that slowly fades to a large patch of thin film covering the entire surface of the beer and a thick ring at the edges of the glass. Moderate to heavy amounts of lacing are observed.
S: Moderate aromas of spicy earthy turmeric + black peppercorns, light to moderate aromas of citrus/grapefruit zest hops, and pale + bready malts with a hint of caramel sweetness.
T: Upfront there is a light to moderate flavor of pale + bready + caramel malts with a hint of caramel sweetness. That is followed by moderate flavors of spicy earthy turmeric + black peppercorns. Finally there is a light flavor of citrus/grapefruit zest + citrus/grapefruit hops which impart a light amount of bitterness which linger for a moderate amount of time and fades away.
M: Just shy of medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Slightly crisp upfront with a smooth clean finish.
O: Very interesting - almost reminds me of a saison IPA hybrid (the combination of turmeric + black peppercorns has a flavor reminiscent of saison yeast) which is successful. Enjoyable and fairly easy to drink with well hidden alcohol, refreshing.
