Mashed with local barley and local raw wheat. Boiled with burlap aged hops. Fermented with our mixed house cultures in one of our big beautiful Missouri oak foeders. Transferred to wine barrels for extensive aging. Pulled out of oak and fermented again atop a massive amount of local blackberries courtesy of our buds at River Ridge Organics of Grayson County Virginia. We then went back into freshly dumped red wine barrels for further maturation. From there, we once again transferred out of wine barrels into freshly dumped gin barrels for even more maturation. The gentle slumber in the gin barrels offers an added boozy complexity and a beautiful botanical profile. Conditioned naturally inside the bottle.

A- Ruby pour from the 750ml into a becher glass. The head is a very light pink and has a foamy frothy texture. Decent head retention. Tiny belt around the edges leaves small sheets of lacing.
S- Berries and cherry dark fruit notes come to mind immediately with a strong acidic backing that is heavy lactic with light acetic. Slight vinous notes with a hint of gin in the backdrop of the fruits and sour.
T- The gin definitely opens up a bit more but all in all the berries and sours still run the show. The gin adds a wonderful floral, spicy note that hits right after the blackberries. Overall it is quite sour but not enough to detract from the taste.
MF- Light to medium bodied. The texture is frothy and the beer is moderately carbonated. Ends with a high sourness.
Tasty but lacks a bit of depth. The sourness becomes very strong and it accentuates the berries and you lose some of the complexity of the barrels.

Snug Glove is already one of my favorite beers and this gin barrel aged version just puts it over the top. Beautiful wild ale with nice botanical from the gin barrels. This is now at the top of my beer list.
