Appearance: Pours coffee colored with a quick film of carbonation appearing and disappearing across the surface; very leggy but no lacing
Smell: The blackberry wine element is powerful in the aromatics but there is Bourbon and a hint of caramel in the mix, as well
Taste: The blackberry wine flavors dominate the forefront, bringing sweet dark berry fruit tones; it takes a while for the Bourbon, caramel and vanilla tones to emerge and, the more you taste, the more the sweetness overwhelms
Mouthfeel: Thick and full bodied with minimal carbonation; some warmth in the gullet
Overall: I am amazed at how the time in the Blackberry wine barrels impacted this brew; with this level of sweetness, the enjoyment factor starts to decline after the first 8 oz. and, if we had the old "Drinkability" category I would mark that at about 3.75; I wish that Fonta Flora would stop bottling these massive beers in 750s and shift to 375s
