On tap at Saraveza in PDX today. Bit of a surprise to see this beer on tap here.
The beer pours a hazy golden, orange, amber color with great head retention and considerable lacing. This beer looks great. On the nose I get considerable tropical fruit and orange citrus, with a hint of underlying vanilla. So this NEIPA smells pretty good as well. On the palate, this is preally a pretty impressive hazy IPA. The flavor profile replicates the nose pretty closely, but the fresh citrus and tropical fruit aspect are very impressive. True to form there's virtually no bitterness on the finish, which is something I normally don't appreciate. However, it actually works pretty well in this beer (though I still think a touch of bitterness would enhance this beer's flavor profile and drinkability). Mouthfeel is fairly full, but the alcohol is very well integrated into the flavor profile. You really get no sense that this is an 8% abv DIPA. The finish is clean with no sense of heat from the high abv.
Impressive beer from this new to me NC brewery (though I understand this beer was made in collaboration with Alvarado St.). Would definitely order this again, if I ever see it on tap again.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
