Kicking off a full on savory, sweet and stout series, the For The Share collection starts with a collaborate Oreo stout with The Veil Brewing Company for a beer that drinks like dessert.

Oreo Cookie For The Share pours a luxuriously dense black with a thinly veiled and broken froth. But a pass of the glass brings a luscious scent of fresh baked brownie, dark roast coffee, chocolate, toffee and cake batter. In similar form the malt dominant stout slathers the tongue with pastry flavors of chocolate covered espresso bean, chocolate wafer, vanilla and sweeter caramelization. Stedfast in its malt sweetness, the decadent ale coats the mouth with dessert-like effects, balanced only by espresso bitterness and whisky warmth. A late warmth of bourbon spice, nutty oak and toasted caramel only add to the beer's irresistibility.

Full bodied, pleasantly cloying and simply thick, Fonta Flora captures the essence of the Oreo cookie quite well. A finish of savory bourbon, sherry and port also decorate the aftertaste on route to a long plush aftertaste of that famous cookie.

Poured from a waxed 750mL bottle into a Perennial SdC tumbler. Shiny, oily black with minimal foam. Nice barrel presence with a semisweet nose. I expected it to be a lot sweeter on the nose and taste honestly. Instead, the barrel cuts the sweetness or it’s just that well balanced in its flavor additives. Instead addition to oak and whiskey, I also get notes of chocolate and vanilla. Medium-full mouthfeel. Excellent barrel-aged imperial stout. One that could easily get lost in excess but never does.
