Look: It pours brown with a tan head. It has very low head retention.
Smell: It has strong malt aromas up front with a sugary touch to it. There are caramel and maple notes. There are also low levels of bourbon and coconut in support. There is a light hop spiciness well into the background as well.
Taste: It has strong malt flavors that include caramel and toffee. There is a sugary and maple element to it with some coconut touches. It has bourbon notes in support. There are some spice and earthen elements mixed in as well.
Feel: It has a full, close to chewy body. It has potent alcohol warming that is a tinge towards the hot side.
Overall, a well put together barleywine with plenty of complex elements mixed in.
