Collaboration with Cellarest Beer Project.
The brewers started with a simple grist of local two row pilsner and dextrin malt. Then they boiled it in their open-top oak foeder using local granite rocks heated in a wood fire! Popular prior to metal mash tuns, this style of Steinhelles — German for ‘stone Helles’ — brims with flavors of toffee and minerality thanks to the stones’ hot surfaces instantly caramelizing the sugars they touch.
The duo then delicately hopped the Lager with Hallertau and Perle, fermented it cool with Fonta Flora’s house lager yeast, and spunded the brew for a crisp, ultra-authentic sip.
