I took one sip and said, who are these guys? How did they get this good without me noticing them?
(Turns out, this is my second brew from them. But at 2004 brewers and 3800 reviews and 71 years, I'm entitled to forget.)
Big Picture, I'd be OK with this being styled as a table ale... such as a saison. (I've reviewed 430 of them, so I got an idea.)
I drank this while eating a Vietnamese Pho with a subtle veggie broth and all the berries, somehow, made a great broth better. If a brew makes a good meal better, it is a table ale IMHO.
Hedgerow Provision Looks great in a wine glass; lasting foam on a ruby body. I also give points for really cool labels and Burning Sky has lots of them. Smells are mostly fruit with some barnyard in my back nose. The barnyard gets strong in the Tastes and finishes with a satisfying semi-dry... really expert given all the fruit used. A nice mixed grain bill. Rated against a saison (as I have), it could have more cleansing qualities; but still medium-mouthed.
This is close to world class in my book. Reminds me lots of New Glarus' world class fruit beers... since that was my best introduction to them over 25 years ago. If Burning Sky keeps this up, they will hit that standard soon.
I went on their website and Burning Sky does all the Good Guy stuff and I want more. I'm tempted to buy a mixed case of their offers, but I'm in and out of the south U.K. until next year. Maybe then I have the chance to study them more.
