On a cold winter night, snuggle by the fireplace with a glass of Black Irish. Its comforting aromas of coffee and light smoke are complemented by an incredibly smooth, roasted flavor. Indulge in this exceptionally creamy, medium-bodied Stout that finishes with a pleasant smokiness.

(13 oz pour at The Mile, 8.2%... served in a fat tulip)
Black beer with a sandy-colored foam... not much smoke on the nose, maybe some caramel-y roasted notes... big hit of Bamberg-like smoke on the palate, semi-rich underlying dark malts, bit of a phenolic, lightly-band-aid aftertaste; light sweetness, relatively clean throughout, relatively dry... smooth, med-light, clean body; med-stocky foundation, little roundness... good American-style strong stout; the smoke is a nice touch, though the phenols do linger for awhile; its strength is rather well hidden, and it seemed to pair nicely with my Guinness stew; I'd get it again, just wish it wasn't so clean

Had on tap into a 10oz pint shaped glass. Pours black with a thin but persistent head. Taste is mild roasted with some coffee notes. Very mild overall but satisfying. Could drink a bunch without fatigue.

From a growler filled at the brewery, tulip glass.
Black it is. Opaque. Generous bubble carbonation, yet a thin mocha-tan colored cap. Hearty lacing, though.
Smoked roasted malt aroma. Strong fresh coffee, too. Faint alcohol as it warms.
Smoky malt flavor. Dark roast coffee.
Medium body, smooth. Dry all the way. A touch of alcohol at the end.
Another good offering from RD, but the smoke holds it back a tad for me. Also, the oatmeal may have eluded me.
