i had slightly higher hopes for this one, only because their other beers are so good, and because this one sounds so inventive. made with real lime zest, that aspect is really well done, and its a fine use of an unconventional ingredient, i just dont love the base pale ale. i dont get a lot of hops aside from the bittering, and the malt weight is just a little too much, that sweetness covers up the lime, its not balanced well in that regard. it also seems just a little big on the grain front for what obviously is a warm weather beer. especially considering the abv is so low, i thought this would be a bit less filling, less sturdy. all that said though, its pretty darn good, the lime freshness covers more than adequately for any lack of a hop profile, and the flavors take me right to boat drinking in the sun, which i love. labor intensive im sure, zesting all those limes, and worth the effort, but i might restructure the grain bill just a bit to lighten to body and the sweetness. this would also be pretty cool with a brett pitch. unique brew to say the least, well worth trying!
