Thanks, Nick!
Was psyched to get this from Nick on a recent trip to Colorado Springs. Had tried smaller bottled of Cinnamon (4.30), Coconut (4.36) and Coffee (4.32) variants and enjoyed them all, so was looking forward to trying the basic version. Bottled called it an “Imperial Chocolate Stout Brewed with Hazelnuts and Almonds.”
Poured a pitch black color with two fingers of frothy tan head. Just a few bubbles coming up from the bottom of the glass. Excellent spotty, foamy lacing. Excellent thick foamy retention. (Sight - 4.25)
Smelled hazelnut, vanilla, smooth milk chocolate syrup, almond, popcorn, toffee, caramel, milk and some nutty malts. (Smell - 4.25)
Taste followed the nose for the most part. Initially was getting that 11 pct. booze, but that mellowed out somewhat. Got hazelnut, milk chocolate, chocolate syrup, vanilla, almond, toffee, creamy caramel and nutty malts. Alcohol did not taste like 11 pct. by the end. (Taste - 4.25)
Full body. Creamy texture. Average carbonation. Long, smooth, warming finish. (Feel - 4.50)
Just an excellent beer. Wanted to say base beer, but really want to have their base Something Came in the Mail for you Today. Really enjoyed this. (Overall - 4.25)
