Thanks, Nick!

Nick brought this and seven other beers out to me on a recent work trip. He specifically told me how good this one was and that he didn’t want to depart with it. He had also mention how much Wiley Roots had improved, which is crazy because I was already a big fan with an average review rating of five beers of a 4.23. Description on the can read, “An Imperial Stout with Coffee & Caramel Aged in Woody Creek Rye Whiskey Barrel.” Hot damn that is right up my alley.

Poured a pitch black color with less than a finger of khaki tan fizzy head, which dissipated immediately. Could pick out just a few bubbles coming up along the sides of the glass. Terrible lacing. Terrible retention. (Sight - 2.00)

Smelled dark-roasted coffee, caramel, toffee, creamy peanut butter, dark cocoa, dark chocolate syrup, char wood, ashtray and sticky molasses. Just incredible on the nose. Not much addition from the can, but still solid. (Smell - 4.50)

Tasted even better than the nose. This beer is so good. In order got dark-roasted coffee, oak, smooth whiskey barrel, caramel, toffee, milk chocolate, chocolate syrup, spicy rye, sticky molasses, vanilla, semi-char wood and even creamy peanut butter. (Taste - 4.75)

Full body. Sticky texture. Average carbonation. Long, smooth finish. (Feel - 5.00)

This beer was just amazing. Wow. Well done, Wiley Roots. Well done. (Overall - 4.50)
