I put this in the fridge from 60~ cellar temp for about 30 minutes.
Opaque, murky, dark brown appearance with a light brown head that completely disappears. No head retention or lacing. No visible carbonation.
Mild, but really nice and cohesive aroma with cinnamon, vanilla, graham cracker and peppers, which brings earthiness to the nose. Interestingly, everything seems to combine into a sweet, dark, dried fruit aroma that reminds me of prune, and blackberry and chocolate covered raspberry gummy candy. Some creamy coffee too. Zero indications of the ABV.
Similar flavor profile. The beer is not as sweet as the nose indicates. The heat is very mild, but present, and peppers lend themselves more to an earthy, vegetal flavor more so than heat. Once again, on the finish everything seems come together with a raspberry, blackberry and Concord grape note as well, along with some bitter bakers chocolate and coffee.
The feel is a bit light for my preference with such a strong stout, but it’s not really a distraction from the overall beer and is still a very good feel with low carbonation and semi-dry. Moderate heat from the peppers.
