A: the light brown head recedes quickly.

S: vanilla, black licorice. Somewhat muted.
T: the taste jumps out from the quiet nose. The taste Is the best character of this beer. It has nice cinnamon, vanilla, licorice, watery coffee, cola notes with some bright herbal hops. stone fruit. The herbal notes remind me of a tame winter warmer.
M: The body is extremely thin. Off-style, really. Threw me for a loop; be warned. It finishes quite dry, almost evaporating on your tongue. This beer does not feel like 9%.
O: I could see how this would be nice on nitro tap , but this is unremarkable from the growler. I want this beer with lamb and mint jelly.

Poured 9/8/16 from a 32oz growler that was filled at the brewery on 9/3/16, into an imperial pint glass.

A: The beer is a deep dark brown color, with a thin off-white head that fades quickly and leaves a thin lace on the glass.

S: The aroma contains roasted malts, chocolate, some coffee and a faint touch of hops.

T: The taste starts out with a hearty roasted malt character and some smokiness followed by mildly sweet flavors of chocolate, coffee and some licorice. The hops presence is mild as expected but brings a good balance. The after-taste is slightly smoky and slightly sweet.

M: Crisp and smooth but a bit chalky, medium body, medium carbonation, finish is dry and slightly sticky.

O: Tasty, goes down easily, not too filling, good kick, good representation of style, this is a solid big stout to drink for a long time.

On tap (nitro, served in a 5oz tasting glass) and out of a 750ml growler bought at the brewery, 8/26.

Appearance: nitro version was visibly super creamy and fluffy on the head and body. Out of the growler, similar in color, with a dark brown, nearly black body, with a thin, but pretty lingering head. Khaki in color, with some solid sticky lacing.

Aroma: loads of roastiness, some vanilla, some mild dark chocolate. A touch bitter, which I assume is after-effect of previously stated roasty, dark choco-flavor. No heat or booze on the aroma.

taste: on nitro, extremely smooth and roasty. Drinks like a more complex version of Proclamation's "Perkatory." Lots of light milk chocolate, some mild vanilla, some unique Belgian flavor. Overall, not super pungent in any one area, but nicely balanced and incredibly drinkable at 9% ABV.

Feel: could've been a lot thicker for a stout at 9%. Drinks more like a very flavorful Porter, but that's not necessarily a bad thing in the age of extremely boozy, barrel-crazy stout.

Overall: a solid stout, though I wasn't as big a fan as of ZZzlumber or the super hoppy Proc brew I drank right before this one.
