gifted by a friend down in RI - wasn't expecting this as it is not really my style but I like everything I've had out of Proclamation so far. It says there is sumac, honey, guava and sorrell... hmm, I'm worried up front.
Pours a hazy gold color with a one finger silky head.
Aroma is a little sour and has strong wheat notes. There is something sweet there like pineapple as well but the wheat overpowers it.
I was expecting the taste to be sour but it is not - there is sorrell in the brewing process and it has a sour taste to it. I taste it more as tangy though. There is a nice tropical/floral hop flavor that may be the guava peeking through. There is a definite honey sweetness behind that really helps this beer a lot. This was very well done.
Feel is very thin, almost watery. A little seltzery yet creamy on the tongue as well.
This is an interesting beer that worried this old IPA guy but in the end I think there is some creat creativity behind it and the combination of odd flavors really works well. It's not my thing so I'll likely not have it again but that's shoudl be no reflection on the quality.
