Enjoying a four of these I bought today 9/29/21 cans dated march 3/31/21. I poor everything I drink in one of several different ice mugs I keep on tap in freezer. This one was pretty much spot on for me nice creamy head, nice apricot notes. Does this have lactose? I don’t think so the body has a little creamy feel to it which I like so that’s interesting to me. Maybe that’s where the oat comes in to play but I don’t know enough about it I just rip em’.

Poured into a 20 oz Snulip glass canned on 3/31/21. Pours a hazy orange yellow with a finger plus sticky white head that leaves leaves thin streaks of lace, with excellent retention. 4.5

Aroma ripe melon, guava, mandarin, apricot, and a hint of grapefruit rind. 4.25

Taste follows cantaloupe, guava, mandarin, apricot, and a little grapefruit really well balanced. 4.25

Mouthfeel is big, soft creamy carbonation, not sticky or dry, and at 8.5% it drinks bigger but still easy going down. 4.75

Overall this is really good. I highly recommend. They brew some excellent beers. 4.5

This here's a nice, big ol' oat DIPA with some good hops (Rakau, Mosaic, Galaxy) that seems like a pretty decent idea overall. I haven't had a new beer from Proclamation in quite a while (I think since March or April earlier this year?), but this sounds good. Canned about 2-and-a-half weeks ago on 11/24/20, it's also definitely on the fresh side, which is even better!

The pour is a milky, oat-y looking liquid, glowing in my glass with a fairly-vibrant yellow-orange coloration to it. It's opaque and dense looking, almost like a glass of egg nog or something, and is topped with a magnificently-huge fluffy head of bone-white foam that measures a solid three fingers upon first pour. As it fades, it leaves behind some excellent lace and great legs. Very nice appearance, for sure, though you have to be okay with the "milkshake-looking" aspect some modern NEIPA-type beers have.

The nose is equal parts Galaxy and Rakau to me, with an undercurrent of Mosaic that seems dedicated to the pine-y dankness element that hop can typically bring. Also, the dusty, cereal-like quality of oats is definitely felt in the smell of this beer as well. It's kind of yeasty and chalky in a sense, with some light esters mingling with the big elements of mango, apricot, and guava. Some orange peel, passion fruit, grapefruit, and tangelo as well. Perhaps even a little earthiness, as well. Hmm, I dunno. I don't think I'm totally sold here; it feels like the hop character is slightly under-expressive, which to me usually means the dry-hop wasn't as aggressive as it could have been. There are good elements, but I'm hoping it comes together better once I sip.

First sip is smooth and plush with flavors of papaya, mango, and orange cream highlighted by some light pine and dankness toward the finish. Super oat-forward with a good amount of maltiness that keeps this rather anchored. I'm still not sure the hop expression is as great as it could have been with a bigger focus on the dry-hop, though. Granted, I have no idea what they did here but it just seems that way to me. This is nice and smooth, for sure, but some of the flavors just feel forced and estery rather than specific to the high-quality hop varietals used, and I do think Rakau + Mosaic is a great idea for a combo because of the way the former's stone fruit aspects can play off the complex dankness of the latter (along with its semi-consistent inflection of berry-like notes). I would definitely give this a shot if it were re-tooled a bit, though my issues with this are somewhat similar to Gizmo Gadget, this brewery's "oat milk double IPA" from earlier this year. It's just almost TOO smooth and that doesn't help push some of the cooler flavors on the palate. Definitely haven't given up on Proclamation, but they can do better, and they definitely have in the past.

Pours a cloudy bright orange gold color with a short-lived fizzy off white head. The aroma is voluminous with orange and papaya notes, slightly sweeter than typical. Taste is similar, maybe more tangerine with the high effervescence. There is a more bitter sweet fruit flavor behind it that is not as pleasant, maybe a little more pith-like bitter - not sure exactly how to describe it, but it is in the papaya range. Feel is soft and light-to-moderately bitter, most in the finish. The finish also has a sourness on the tongue - again that odd flavor. On a bright note there is no alcohol burn for a 8.5% beer. Impressive and appreciated. I am not a huge fan of this one. Seems like a shot in the foot in terms of hop choice. This should be a very pleasant beer but something is getting in the way.

Pours the color and clarity of orange juice with a loose, white head that dissipates into a band towards the edges leaving a fizzy slick across the surface. Nose expresses tangerines and pith. Taste follows nose; however, citrus is in the background and pithy/herbal quality dominates the foreground and lingers lightly at the finish. Mouthfeel is light-medium in body with a carbonation shy of assertive. Overall, a sold DIPA; however, I was expecting more of a creaminess to the mouthfeel due to the flaked oats.
