Picked this up on my recent trip to Proc, which was long overdue as I haven't been in over a year. They've always got a nice variety available and I took full advantage of that by grabbing a bunch of singles. This one sounds good, an oak aged sour that already has pink guava, and is then conditioned on pineapples. Let's dive in
Pours a hazy pale gold with 2 fingers of white head that quickly fades to a thin ring and leaves no lacing, tons of particulate settles to the bottom of my glass
This was quite funky in the nose, far more than I had expected actually to my pleasant surprise. I'm picking up on aromas of musty leather, funky guava, sharp oak, white wine, and acidic lemon. No real pineapple here sadly
Even more to my surprise, this is super expressive in taste, not letting up the intensity the whole time. On the front end of the sip I'm tasting bright tangerine, tart lemon, wet hay, and some bready malt. The swallow brings notes of sour guava, leather, sharp oak, and a crisp bready malt with wonderful aftertastes of tropical pineapple and a touch of weed
A medium body pairs with moderate tingling carbonation, resulting in a tart and refreshing beer that I wish I was drinking in the middle of the summer. Finishes crisp and dry but leaves a film in the mouth
Some genuinely great stuff here, exactly the reason I need to have more from this brewery. I was expecting a solid sour, but what I got is something much more complex and interesting while still remaining fruity
