This one seems like a very bold move, but why not? They have nothing to lose. Vienna lagers as it is are not widely popular, and one brewed with grapes is basically unheard of besides this one. I have very good feelings about this one, so let's stop wasting time and dive right in
Pours a cloudy copper gold with 2 fingers of white head that fades to a thin ring and leaves no lacing
The balance is the nose is nothing short of spectacular. It's simple, but what it does with grapes and the malt is impressive. I'm picking up on aromas of honey, toasted bread, ripe red grape, blackberry sorbet, black pepper, and light grassy hops
In flavor, this leans on the sweeter side of things, but the grapes ultimately keep it in check. On the front end of the sip I'm tasting doughy malt, honey wheat, sweet grape, and light tart raspberry. The swallow brings notes of honey, red grape, white pepper, and bready malt
A medium light body pairs with gentle carbonation, resulting in a very crisp and sweet beer. Finishes mostly dry with a lingering bready sweetness
I enjoyed this one quite a bit, it's very unique, even among some of these beer-wine hybrids. It's always cool when breweries will try to dress up classic styles to bring attention to them
