Canned 3/16/22 "Red dawn" stamped on the bottom of the can
Man, this is one of those beers I picked up back in the spring with every intention of drinking right away, but that just never happened. I always passed by it in the fridge but was never in the mood for it. But a warmer fall day calls for a nice hopped-up Red Ale. Let's see what it's all about
Pours a slightly cloudy reddish orange with2 fingers of soapy light beige head that slowly fades to a cap and leaves decent lacing
This definitely has a dank and resinous vibe in the nose, but the malt backs it up nicely. I'm picking up on aromas of pine sap, dank weed, toffee, caramel malt, resinous hops, grapefruit pith, white pepper, and a touch of orange marmalade
It's a bit less balanced in taste, but still really good for what it is. On the front end of the sip I'm tasting orange zest, resinous hops, fresh cut grass, burnt caramel, red grapefruit, and light white pepper. The swallow brings notes of resinous hops, black pepper, orange marmalade, burnt caramel, dank weed, pine sap, and light toffee
A medium body pairs with gentle carbonation, resulting in a zippy and moderately bitter beer. Finishes a tad sticky but doesn't hurt drinkability
This is pretty damn good. It could use a bit more of a malty backbone but I enjoy it as is
