The pour is a slightly hazy dark golden color with a foamy inch-plus of white head. The head falls to a very respectable cap, some stickage to the glass.
The smell is bretty but I would say it stops short of full on barnyard funky. Juicy pineapple, a hint of lemon. Green tea, honey-like sweetness. There might be a whiff of earthy ginger in there - it's there, but just a tease. Clean, crackery malt.
This is kind of a flavor riot. Brett character leads but again not overly funky, then sweet pineapple and peach (absent in the nose), honey sweet, green tea, mildly tart. Fleeting ginger-like spiciness, cracker malt. The sum is greater than the parts - if I don't try and pick it apart, it's just a very highly flavorful beer.
It's full bodied, slightly sticky. The aftertaste is lemon and slightly peppery, a bit of green tea phenolics. Fairly high carbonation.
I like this beer - it makes me smile and I have never tasted anything quite like it. Is it a true sahti - maybe not quite. I'm not getting much identifiable hop character so I don't know if it is hopped or not, and I certainly get no sign of juniper. It is comfortably rustic but cohesive somehow and it has flavor in spades. If you are looking for something different, it's worth a try.

On tap at Proclamation
Alright, another first for me, my first Sahti! A very obscure style that has taken me a long time to track down, and this one just happened to be on tap while I decided to come to Proc on a whim. I’m not really sure what to expect so let’s just get into it
Pours a cloudy orange gold with 2 fingers of off white head that fades to a thin cap and leaves decent lacing
The nose here is very bretty but not super funky, if that makes sense. I’m picking up on aromas of pineapple juice, green tea, floral hops, lemon zest, sweet honey, crackery malt, and a touch of ginger
Likewise in tastw the brett really bites but doesn’t get pushed into super funky territory. On the front end of the sip I’m tasting lemon juice, peach candy, floral hops, wildflower honey, bready malt, green tea, and light peppercorn. The swallow brings notes of lemon zest, pineapple juice, peach candy, wildflower honey, bready malt, ginger, and light peppercorn
A medium body pairs with gentle carbonation, resulting in a slick beer. Finishes very sticky and coats the mouth
Odd mouthfeel aside, I really dig this one. It’s quite unique and definitely fun
