Canned 2/10/23. “Fantastic BK” stamped on the bottom of the can
When I stopped by Proclamation a few weeks ago I had this on draft but didn’t bother reviewing it while I was with my friend. However, I was quite impressed by it and figured I should take some to go. A negroni inspired IPA doesn’t sound great on paper, but trust me, it works. Let’s get into the details
Pours a slightly cloudy copper orange with 3 fingers of soapy off white head that slowly fades to a cap and leaves minimal lacing
The nose is aggressive in the best way possible, very herbal and bitter. I’m picking up on aromas of orange marmalade, black tea, caramel malt, black licorice, herbal hops, lemongrass, light coriander, pine sap, and lemon zest
It doesn’t have quite the same bite in taste, which may have something to do with the age of the can, but it’s awesome regardless. On the front end of the sip I’m tasting bready malt, herbal hops, orange zest, black pepper, lemon zest, light grass, and weed. The swallow brings notes of caramel malt, black licorice, herbal hops, black pepper, coriander, orange marmalade, black tea, and light juniper
A medium body pairs with gentle tingling carbonation, resulting in a slick beer. Finishes mostly dry with a nice herbal bite
I really dig this one. I hope they brew this one again because I need more
