English Stout is a style we need more of. It’s a damn shame that this one is so good and obviously will never be brewed again. I picked up two cans of this one during my last Proc haul and crushed the other one, I’n glad I saved this one to review. Let’s dive right in
Pours almost completely jet black with a slight ruby glow and 2 fingers of rocky light tan head that slowly fades to a thin cap and leaves decent lacing
There’s a deep fruity character in the nose that’s unexpected from such a low abv. I’m picking up on aromas of red currant, blueberry skin, raisin, book leather, brown sugar, toasty malt, cocoa powder, black tea, and light coffee
It reads more bitter and roasty in taste with the fruity nuances mostly absent unfortunately, but it’s still damn solid. On the front end of the sip I’m tasting toffee, rye toast, black tea, cacao nib, medium roast coffee, and red grape. The swallow brings notes of burnt toast, black tea, cacao nib, black cherry, molasses, biscuity malt, light earthy hops, and spent coffee beans
A medium body pairs with gentle tingling carbonation, resulting in a smooth beer. Finishes a tad sticky but dries out over time
While the taste doesn’t quite follow the nose the way I’d like it to this is still a great example of the style

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
