Date: 5/7/15
Location: Stinky's
Bottle/Draught: 12.7 oz Bottle
Glassware: Snifter

Appearance: Dark brown to black in color. The beer allows some light at the edges. Beige to mocha color carbonated head. One inch head head pours with a normal pour. Decent retention.
Aroma: Grape must and candied sugars make up the majority of the nose. Some spicy grain notes, pepper.
Taste: Grape must is again at the front. Some hop fruit notes, touches of citrus. Spicy malts move forward significantly in the taste of the beer.
Mouthfeel: Light medium to medium body. Sweetness in the front but the beer finishes with a dark fruit dryness.

Didn't love this. Seemed like it wasn't fully formed... had a bit of brett funk, but not enough to blend well with the sweet roast malt. Not great.

From 04/01/15 notes. On tap at Gingerman in NYC.

Pours a deep, dark brown color, almost black, with one inch of medium tan head and low carbonation evident. Light coffee, cocoa powder, dark fruits, sweet milk chocolate, chalk, vanilla, and cream. Medium body and low carbonation, easy to drink.

Overall a decent beer. Taste is a bit chalky and lacking, but easy to drink and a ince chocolatey nose.

12.7 oz bottle purchased at the brewery a few days ago. ($10)

Black, under a long live mocha head.

Nose of dusty dark malts and a hint of old cheesy feet. Old crusty gym socks also come to mind. I need some super funked up cheese to go with this...

Dry dark malts, chalky hops and again some moldy/barn yardy funkyness. Strangely watery and thin in the mid section

I wish I could say this is all that pleasant, but I'm underwhelmed here. Meh...I'd give em a swing and a miss on on this one
