16.9oz bottle from the brewery. Pours a viscous pitch black color with a thin layer of brown head. The aroma is dark chocolate, vanilla, salted caramel, and some earth. The taste is dark chocolate, espresso, dark cherries, roasted malts, charred wood, and earth. Dark chocolate covered cherries and smokey roasted malts towards the end with a charred wood and espresso finish. Dry mouthfeel with a medium to heavy body. Low carbonation. Moderate alcohol heat. Overall, a solid beer that I hope I'm able to try some of the barrel aged variants. Still, this is worth seeking out in its own right.
