Collaboration with Equilibrium Brewery

(26 days old) Standard haze. Big, fresh, tropical and citrus aroma. Vibrant stone fruit with some creamy pineapple flavor. Unusually smooth. Bit of lactose sweetness adds perfect balance.

Picked this up a while ago and finally got around to it tonight as I continue to go through my massive basement stash. Love both of these guys and this collaboration was one of the better ones that Other Half has been a part of. Very few of their beers have been this smooth and creamy and Imperial might be the word I'd least use to describe this wondrous brew!
This had a nice, mango pour to it that bordered on orange juice. Enough head and rings of lacing could be seen to indicate that this had some thickness to it. Oats, citrus, tropical fruits, and cream filled the muted nose as the taste was all of these taken up to another level. Full and smooth, the lactose make this sticky and sweet enough to feel like something from Tired Hands or The Veil as this was just as good as anything that I've had from either of those breweries. It almost felt like a dessert beer with tons of fruit, some subtly dank hops, and enough to physically and proverbially chew on between sips, and after the last drop went down...
Booze? I suppose it's in here but I had so much fun drinking this that I didn't even notice any potency. I know that I let this age but it held up well without any sediment or particles suspended in it. Canned on 4/17/18 with "DARK STAR" written underneath it, this was just as classic as any Neil Young sound that I've heard. Shame that this beer is retired!

What can I say other than I just like the untampered OG MC2 from EQ better. The aroma is still rockin' with mango and pine in the forefront. The oat treatment is a little over the top and I come away with a big mouth of muesli albeit with nice apricot and orange accompaniments. And the feel seems dense and chewy rather than the fluffier take of EQ''s brew.
