Love the playing card theme of the label but the beer inside wasn't too shabby either. Once again, this was a collaboration that I took a while to get to and realized that it was worth the wait. Sure, this was strong but it had enough going for it that the elevated alcoholic presence was more of a footnote than a detraction...
Canned on 5/01/18, this had "ROYAL FLUSH" written below it as the deck of cards theme was everywhere to be found. Lots of wheat, bright orange, peaches, oats, and urine the the varied, but muted, nose as the taste contained all of these notes to varying degrees. Vanilla cream, sherbet, oats, and chalky lime came through in the taste as this was equally sweet and dry at the same time. Minty freshness emerged in the aftertaste once this warmed up with boozy warmth entering into the fray once this fully warmed up.
That was because there *was* enough alcohol in this to put the Imperial in American Imperial IPA and with a faint carbonation, the flavors were allowed to linger for a bit longer than they should have. This wasn't a bad beer but if you'll excuse the pun, this attempted to be a jack of all trades while mastering none. If you like anything from either of the breweries, you won't be disappointed with this but it was just a bit too dank and heavy for me to rate any higher on here. Dirty and tropical, the sweetness took the edge off of this but left me wanting more, once I finished this off...

poured into a pint glass via growler (less than 4 days old)
super hazy yellow in color (very cloudy) with strong scents of pineapple and mango..mosaic and citra hops are very present here
taste is more bitter grapefruitish with that oat creaminess on the backend
Alcohol is well well hidden here..kinda shocked the ABV is what it is..very smooth!

Pours a cloudy peachy orange color with two fat fingers of yellow-tinted head, almost like the color of a manila folder. Thick lacing.
Creamy tropical fruit in the nose. It's bursting with papaya, as well as some mango and peach skin. There's light grass and citrus behind that. Hints of mint and lime. Tons of hop depth here.
The taste largely follows the nose. Sweet tropical fruits, a little light citrus, some mint, some grass, some herbs. A light kiss of alcohol. Very light grassy bitterness in the backend, coupled with the citrus, prevents it from being overly sweet.
Full bodied, lightly creamy, with a nice, slow-building carbonated fizziness just cutting through in the feel.
It would be hard to find a better fruit juice DIPA than this. Exceptionally big fruit flavors, while remaining dignified and restrained. Very appropriately named. 5/1/18 canned on date.
