on tap at trve this weekend, who did a little other half showcase. i didnt really know these guys did this sort of thing, but wow, this is a killer little lager here, and i think the hop profile is brilliant for something like this, its still delicate, but its tropical and interesting, fairly german to me up until these new zealand hops sub in for the more traditional noble varietals, it really makes this a unique beer! crustal clear yellow beer with just a little more body visually evident than most, and with over an inch of white head in the glass, airy and lacy and pretty. it looks simple, but is smells very different to me, i get the german type pils malt, the crisp lager yeast, but then this huge fruity bouquet, lime, lime leaf, white wine, apricot, passion fruit, wet grass, and even a little rock candy sweetness to the hops, really quite compelling, and without hardly any bitterness when i taste it, even less than would be expected in a more traditional example of the style. i dont mind the little bit of sweetness here, it seems to extend the best part of the beer, which is the dry hop profile, and it doesnt keep it from drinking light and being relatively clean in the finish. an expertly made beer thats both new school and traditional at the same time. they nailed this, its really the perfect hop for something like this. i could drink twenty of these...
