We had the unique opportunity to hand select Nelson Sauvin hops from Freestyle Hops in New Zealand, giving us some of the best Nelson we can find. This Chroma, which is a simple grain bill of oats and pils malt, is designed to showcase the incredible Nelson hops we have access to.

This was another in the line of Chroma beers that I picked up in Brooklyn, even though it was brewed up in Rochester. Like the others, this one was simplistic in it's beauty while being nicely crafted, beautifully plush, and oh-so-easy to drink!
Not a bad pour to this as this was a typical hazy gold with a nicely bright and uniform cloudiness to the liquid, with the right amount of head topping it off. That settled at a nice pace as the lacing left behind was in the form of a few thin rings near the top with lots of spotty splotches the rest of the way down the side of my pint glass. The aroma to this was interesting as the Nelson Sauvin was quite present but was countered by the heavier, chewy oats as this was also the case with the taste. Wine, white grape, Cashmere-like sweetness, and a dankness reminiscent of Galaxy could also be found here as this had a wonderful slickness, dankness, and murkiness to it that was a bit heavy but nicely flavorful at the same time. There wasn't any sediment in the liquid and just a few big, dark pieces ended up at the bottom when I finished this off.
This felt weaker than it was in actuality as it was hefty enough on my breath but not noticeable enough with everything else going on. It looked like it was canned on 1/26 as the stamping on the bottom was smudged but regardless, this held up well as it felt fresh, mature, and on the level of Other Half's more popular offerings. Others may not see this beer for what it's worth but for those who love what they brew, this was a hidden gem that was well worth the effort to obtain it!
