Collaboration with @jwakefieldbeer @bottlelogicbrewing @moksabrewing @horusagedales.

We combined forces with a group of some of our favorite Pastrinauts post-Pastrytown to cook up this batch of astronaut ice cream with bananas, molasses, marshmallows and freeze dried ice cream.

Poured at fridge temp. Pours motor oil black with zero head and some chunks! The nose is banana, burnt toffee, walnuts, chocolate, vanilla, marshmallow.

The taste generally follows the nose. This is about 4 years old and I don't think it has held up exceptionally well. The banana dominates, but the other notes aren't really there. Neapolitan ice cream, marshmallow, chocolate, vanilla, and nuts.

The mouthfeel is thick and creamy, and the aftertaste is banana and strawberry ice cream.

Bottle. Coconut? floaties galore. I don’t think this one is made with coconut though. Thick.

Coconut, cinnamon, bananas, fudge, bourbon. No idea what the ice cream is supposed to do. Warming, thick, rich. Molasses and caramel.

Not my favorite from OH, but solid.

2023 version poured cool to a mini-snifter. It’s not pretty with the floaters that are impossible to tell if banana or freeze dried ice cream, but but has legs for days. Nose is molasses with a hint of bourbon. Flavor follows the nose, with a good deal of bourbon booziness, not cut much at all by the barrel wood. The banana is more textural than flavor (opposite that of the ‘23 PastryTown BA Banana Pudding), and the freeze dried ice cream gives a hint of melted Neapolitan. Very sweet, so dessert all day. More would require insulin. Flavor is boozy bourbon, but no bite and no warming. The flavors are sticky, really clinging to the lips and tongue.

After 500ml, nice to try, but one and done for me.

500ml bottle at share. Silky black pour, slight tan head. Aroma is a melange of bananas, chocolate, coffee and vanilla. Taste layers on the booze, bringing in the bourbon barrels for some boozy accents to the banana bread base. Sumptuousflavors throughout this dessert beer. Dessert and aperatif all wrapped up into one.

Bottle from the brewery in Brooklyn during 2020 COVID pause. Pours black with a flash of dark tan head and boozey fingers on the glass, smell is overripe/brown bananas and banana peel, a big bag of fresh marshmallows, molasses and burnt caramel, hints of creme brûlée, walnuts, and booze, taste follows the nose with candied bananas and marshmallow sweetness, molasses, and finishes with mellow roasted malts and banana, this beer is beer if full bodied bordering on thick, with minimal carbonation. A marshmallowy banana bonanza.
