Pours pitch black color with a 1 finger thick brown head that made fizzling sounds and faded pretty quickly, leaving no lacing.
Smells of dark chocolate, booze, bakers chocolate, faint vanilla, brownie batter, nutty notes, metallic accents and brown sugar. It comes off as sweet and almost seems barrel aged even though it isn’t.
Taste comes off as sweet right off the bat, with the vanilla, almond and dark chocolate resembling a candy bar dipped in booze. The ABV heat is evident and the dark chocolate bitterness is similar to burnt toffee or smoked grains with molasses or soy sauce. The complexities at times seem like espresso beans mixed with Hershey chocolate syrup, stirred with a burnt stick used over a campfire to make a s’mores. Not smooth, but not harsh either, this is a very strong brew.

poured from a bottle (released 29Jan2021) into a small festival glass
L: pours motor oil thick, deep black brown with truly a hint of foam that dissipates immediately. No lacing, abv-appropriate legs
S: incredibly sweet right off the bat - get a big whiff of chocolate, aroma of oily nuts (i.e. Marcona almonds), vanilla frosting sweetness. Brownie batter, dark chocolate, baking chocolate. Not much abv heat here, which is surprising, but mostly it’s just sugar to the nose
T: just like the nose, very sweet. Lots of almond flavor with a bit hit of vanilla. Not sure I pick up much on the salt side - imagine it cutting the sweet, so not sure how it would be without it! There’s some fudge brownie chocolate as the base for that almond and vanilla. Not much abv heat on the swallow but it’s certainly warming
F: heavy body, low+ carbonation, easy to drink
O: this is a big ol’ sweet stout that lacks much depth for me. Aggressively sugary to start, find the flavor to be more in your face than something layered
