Our classic collab with our pals at J. Wakefield Brewing. A bourbon barrel aged blend of 10-21 month barrels and conditioned on tons of coconut, marcona almonds and cacao nibs. Six years of one of our favorites!

Bottle: Poured a pitch-black color stout with a dark brown foamy head with some retention and some lacing notes. Aroma of cocoa/chocolate notes with some vanilla notes and light almond notes, bourbon notes and residual sugar notes. Taste is also a mix of rich cocoa powder with chocolate notes with some vanilla notes and bourbon with some residual sugar notes. Body is full with oily texture and good carbonation with no discernible alcohol notes. Rich decadent BA pastry stout.

glory! thanks to my brother for sharing this, a collaboration with j wakefield, super exciting, and perfect for the chilly weather! looks like they do a ton of versions of this, or have over the years, would love to dabble into those. almond joy style, bourbon barrels, massive abv. i think the use of marcona almonds specifically is heady, i love them, and the difference between them and the standard almond in eating is real, in this beer im not sure its obviously marcona, but the almond character is absurd, it has the be attributable to the use of these, neat idea, perhaps more oil or something in them, this is slick and nutty and rich, love that aspect of this, makes it even more regal and special, if you know you know. syrup textured from the bottle, leggy and dense, no head with all this viscosity but there is just a bit of a carbonation prickle to it. coconut is strong in the nose with the almond, cocoa less so, some of that is lost to all the malt, huge roast, coffee, and richer middle layers, toffee and molasses and tobacco, chewy and intimidating, sweet but not gross to me, warm, sticky, sexy. sweet coconut up front in the flavor, toasted and also sort of creamy to me, dark chocolate, oily espresso crema, this has a fatty component for sure, from the almond i think, makes this even fuller feeling and longer lasting, this is truly on my palate in the morning the next day still after this was the final of the night before (did i brush my teeth? i dont remember). some bitterness from the roast and maybe also from the nibs too, needed for balance, coconut is chewy and desserty, some raisin, caramel, and black fig. the barrel character is wonderful, high end whiskey it seems, barrel char, heaps of vanilla bean, some honey, and the light burn of the alcohol. insane overall quality, heavy as they come, packed with flavor but still now forced or gimmicky to me, very nice ingredients on display, i love what the almonds do, and i am thankful to have been able to enjoy this with my brother. bring on the variants!

Two stout studs making sweet barrel-aged music in a 500ML bottle. Go time.
The pour is black – like, I’m blind! black – with less carbonation than the glass of water next to it. The nose features deep, dark, hard malts. Sweet. Bit of bourbon, too.
Snowbirds 6 is flat & one-dimensional. No visible carbonation turns into no actual carbonation, which makes the beer heavy & wearing. Overwhelmingly sweet. The barrel is more an ethereal feeling in the throat & third eye than a solid. Dirty nuts with only a hint of coconut & the cocoa is likely lost in a long, barren field of sweets. This little bottle ought to be shared.
Heavyweights combine to make a big stout that’s barely drinkable. Sub-par. And very disappointing.

Look: It pours very dark brown with virtually no head.
Smell: There are aromas of almonds, chocolate, bourbon, and a touch of coconut. There are some cherry elements with sweetness to it.
Taste: The flavors are strong with chocolate and bourbon. There are almond notes with some cherry and cocoa.
Feel: It has a full body that is on the chewy side with strong alcohol warming.
Overall, the flavors are strong, bold, and in your face. It's a bit boozy, but not to the point of being unpleasant.

Pours very dark, minimal head. Amazing aroma of coconut and almond with a hint of chocolate. Flavor: a sharp, biting almond paste, dense coconut, sweet vanilla, light chocolate; a bit boozy. Light carbonation, thick and slick texture. Overall: delicious!!!

Pours a very still pitch black. A thin ring is all that is to be made of the carbonation. Nose is heavy bourbon notes and milk chocolate with a nearly baked bread note. Taste follows suit with big charred oak and vanilla character. Some chocolate there as well, finishes with a bit of heat. Feel is on the thin side but oily and slick. Overall, I enjoyed this a lot more than the additive mess the banana version proved to be.
