V13 was a seminal beer in a UK beer scene that was just discovering New England IPA. This was the final beer in Cloudwater's V series and they saved the best for last. Collab with Cloudwater Brew Co.

Picked this up at Other Half earlier this year, as I hadn't been there in quite a while. Loved their previous collaborations with Cloudwater and this was another outstanding reason why as it went down so easily and was so beautiful from the get-go. Indeed, this was strong and delicious as it easily fit the bill of a U.K. beer that was new to New England IPA's.

This had the appearance of apricot as it was a very dark orange, uniformly cloudy, and topped off with plenty of foam. That quickly settled down as there weren't any suds left on top of the liquid as well as on the side of the glass. Sure, I was there was more lacing but that was this brew's only drawback as the rest of it was quite inviting. Peach, apricot, a hint of wheat, and Paddington's favorite in marmalade were present in the nose as the taste was equally fruity, strong, and sticky. Candied citrus, stone fruit, booze, and persistent hops came through on the taste as the sweetness and bitterness meshed well together, with plenty of stickiness and bright juice lingering in the back. Lightly carbonated, balanced, and smooth for the style, this went down amazingly easily as the Citra Cryo helped take any edge off that might have resulted from something so hefty.

I didn't mind the potency as I was too busy enjoying everything else here, down to the last sip. Looks like this was canned on 1/12 as the writing on the bottom of the can was a bit smeared. Regardless, this held up well over the last five months as it was worthy of being part of Freak Week. Once again, the combined results of these two brewers was a sure-fire winner!

Look - thick hazy slightly brownish orange with a big white head and really slicky lacing
Smell - Dank juicy citrus and tropical scents
Taste - pretty dank but also juicy with orange grapefruit with some peach and maybe pineapple
Feel - full body medium carb slightly creamy
Overall - really fantastic! Suprsed the smell doesnt jump out as much as the taste... Still a lot though!
