My seventh Other Half stout, which have ranged from Wow to That’s Fine. Hopefully this 16.9 oz. bottle leans towards the former. Split with my wife.
The pour is darkest dark with almost no head to speak of. The nose is rich with butter, booze, cocoa, & vanilla. Very sweet.
Pastrytown Millionaire Shortbread is flat & sweet. Huge hit of vanilla & sweet malt upfront, backed by another jolt of sugar that I’m going to attribute to the shortbread. Touch of chocolate & my imagination is supply a little caramel, but that might not actually be here. Bourbon? No bourbon, sadly. Big & thick. Glad I split this, it’s a lot of sweetness to imbibe.
Massive sweetness. Lack of promised barrel. An odd addition. Overall this hits the ‘pastry’ bullseye but adds a numbing amount of sugary sugar. Good beer?
