375 ml bottle purchased at SPTR in Philadelphia during Philly Beer Week. A delightful, delicate wild ale that balances tartness, honey sweetness and a faint but lovely barrel finish.

Pours hazy light yellow with minimal head.

The nose is fairly standard lemon-funk with hints of cheese and whiskey.

The taste is similar. Lemon, honey, vanilla, and subtle whiskey. The tartness and funk are tame.

The mouthfeel is medium. Delicate but round for the style, with some lingering stickiness on my lips.

Overall, pretty good. Not necessarily a standout wild ale but a pleasure to drink. Would pair well with cheese, as another reviewer mentioned.

Toddy is hazy with tons of tiny bubbles reinforcing a fine, creamy white head. That head holds at a quarter of an inch, while leaving a fine coating of lace over a very pale, straw beer.

The Offero glass focuses the smoky brett against sweet beeswax and vanilla. Oak is a solid background while coriander, fruit and spice provide highlights.

The tartness is mouth watering and followed by juicy sweetness. Both are in equal measure and pronounced. Oak holds back until it warms with apple, apricot and lemon. The flavor generally follows the complex aroma, while the finish is powerfully tart. An exception is that the flavor lacks any smoke.

The light to medium body is lifted by excessive carbonation and a satin texture. Alcohol is quite present.

This is a fantastic beer that elevates the style and what the Hudson Valley has to offer. I will definitely seek this and others from this brewery in the future. I imagine it would pair very well with quality cheese.

This beer is a hazy golden yellow and smells like lemon with some slight honey. The honey comes out more to the taste, with the lemon serving as a nice backbone. There is a bit of a funky bite to it that rounds out this great beer.

this beer is amazing, the beer highlight of a very beery trip back east, my brother hooked this one up and i am incredibly grateful. i have not had nearly enough beer from these guys, but this demonstrates some world class competency and the recipe and the execution are about as good as it gets, seriously perfect beer to me on the whole, the rare perfect score given in the overall category, i cant remember my last one of those... its pale washed out yellow even lightly green tinted from the little bottle, wispy white head on top settles back to a thin white airy layer of bubbles, moderate haze, visible carbonation. it smells botanical and healthful and fresh as can be, the essence of spring to me. the honey element is immediately evident, cut wildflowers, soft limey rindy citrus, and the sweetness of course, all so carefully placed, like microgreens with a surgical implement to garnish a dish in a fine dining establishment. the barrel element is light, the oak is there, but the whiskey is subtle, which i appreciate, i would hate for it to overwhelm the herbal nature of this and the delicate balance. the flavor is incredible too, some interesting wild yeast that wasnt as forward to me in the nose, bretty and mature but sort of on the surface, not forcing its way to the core, which remains the verbena and the honey along with a soft raw wheaty grain base. a little tang, some oak tannins, but this is as gentle as it gets from a whiskey barrel, the pillow soft tough i am not used to with these vessels, its amazing! tea-like bitterness, some fresh medicinal herb thing from the verbena, lots of honey but the beer is dry, pollen and flowers, green tea with honey, funky table saison from the old world, and this really subtle whiskey thing bringing it all together, awesome synergy with the honey. this blew me away, a beer of the year candidate for me so far, and it just makes me want more from these guys so bad! thanks again to my brother for sharing. unforgettably unique and good!

A: Pours a very lightly hazy pale yellow in color with moderate to heavy amounts of active visible carbonation rising quickly from the bottom of the glass and faint straw yellow + pale golden yellow colored highlights. The beer has a three finger tall fizzy foamy bright white head that reduces to a few small to medium sized patches of medium thick film surrounded by a large patch of mottled very thin film covering the majority of the remainder of the surface of the beer and a thin ring at the edges of the glass. Light amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Light to moderate aromas of pale + slightly sour wheat malts with a light to moderate amount of honey sweetness. There are moderate aromas of lemon verbena + slightly sweet vanilla. Slightly stronger than moderate aromas of oak, whiskey, vanilla, and caramel from the barrel aging. Moderately tart/sour.

T: Upfront there are light to moderate flavors of pale + slightly sour wheat malts with a light to moderate amount of honey sweetness. That is followed by moderate flavors of lemon verbena and moderate flavors of oak, whiskey, vanilla, and caramel. Moderately tart which lingers through the finish

M: Light bodied with moderate to heavy amounts of carbonation. Crisp with a hint of dryness and a light to moderate amount of acidic prickliness.

O: Overall a kind of delicate wild ale/sour with a really nice presence of whiskey barrel from the aging and subtle yet complex lemon verbena + honey notes. Easy to drink and very enjoyable.
