On-draught @ 16-Tun, Auckland, New Zealand.

9.5% ABV grape ale. Pilsner base with chardonnay grapes. I'm unsure how they attained this high an ABV or what yeast was used.

Obvious buttery Chardonnay flavour with rich creamy white wine at the fore. Pilsner malt bends to the wine flavour. Hop profile is minimal in presence but floral in character.

ABV is surprisingly well disguised.

I'm not usually a white wine drinker, but this is a competently executed grape ale for the white wine drinker, and I find it to be rather good for its gimmick. They could amp up the acidity and consider bringing in oak and tannin to better effect, but it's a nice wine/ale hybrid as is.
