In early 2019 we summoned VooDoo Brewing to Anaheim to compare and combine our unique barrel aging techniques. Together we conjured a Double Mash Imperial Stout recipe built to withstand the curse of time in twelve extraordinary Heaven Hill bourbon barrels, where it stayed, locked in silent slumber for two years.
There are no adjuncts, there is no post-barrel sorcery -- #Deprecophobia is a dripping portrait of grain, wood, and spirit.
Swirl a glass to awaken aromas of chocolate, leather, and brittle autumn leaves. Apparitions of raisin, cookie dough, and tootsie roll melt and meld on the mid-palate as shadows of brown sugar creep along the edges. Pinpricks of carbonation pull the sweetness away, revealing the tobacco-toned oak tannin of a hauntingly dry finish.

2021 poured from a 16.9oz bottle into a snifter. My first taste of a Bottle Logic beer with no adjuncts and this is an amazing boozy, thick, chocolate concoction.

2021 vintage (batch 1); consumed on 12/8/2022
Pours a viscous, motor-oil sludge into the glass, topped with a lethargically formed sliver of frothy head; a near-blank cap accompanies a thin, creamy collar and minimal-no lacing holding to the walls of the glass.
Aromas of chocolate roast layered with melted toffee ease to a raisin compote underbelly, with charry bourbon accented with tinges of fudge building to a rich caramel brownie crescendo.
Taste offers dusty oak edges alongside fig and raisin upfront, with a steady bourbon infusion dispersing vanillins to contrast smoked caramel over the mid-palate while leaving notes of burnt brownie crusts and hints of caramel closing.
Mouthfeel brings a richer, full body with expectedly minimal carbonation; silky textures resch a creamy peak over the mid-palate, with boozy warmth lingering beneath a semi-stickiness as a drying prickle pokes through on the finish.
An immense Bottle Logic sludge meets a near-perfectly attenuated Voodoo roast profile in this masterclass of barrel-aged decadence; a brilliantly moderated alliance of pastry-level viscosity and seamless barrel counterbalance.

This one pours a very dark black color, with a small head, and a little bit of lacing.
This smells like chocolate chips, marshmallow, vanilla, cookie dough, brownie batter, fudge, tobacco, and toasted oak.
This is absolutely phenomenal, and maybe the best beer that I’ve ever had from Bottle Logic. You really get the Voodoo influence here, as it’s more of an old school barrel bruiser than Bottle Logic is typically known for. There’s lots of char and some tobacco, with lots of spicy toasted oak, caramelly bourbon, and a real sort of dark chocolate chip cookie dough vibe. There’s also sweet brownie batter notes, and some vanilla.
This is medium bodied, creamy, and reasonably thick, with a very nice drinkability.
This is a real stunner, and of the best more under-heralded barrel aged stouts of the past year.

Poured at fridge temp. Pours jet black with almost zero carbonation. No head, no bubbles. I am not sure if I have ever had a relatively still Bottle Logic beer. Very interesting. Looks incredibly viscous.
Nose is intense. Raisins, chocolate, toffee, tons of bourbon barrel, a bit of roasted malts, some vanilla, and a bit of maple. A nice nutty flavor hits the nose - first thought is walnuts. I start to get a really nice chocolate cookie dough smell after a bit. This one is really interesting as it evolves quite a bit as it warms and as the nose adjusts. Can't wait to taste it.
Taste is insane. Sweet, with a strong dark fruit influence. Cherries, blackberries, and raspberries. Much more fruit than the nose would suggest. Tons of sweet chocolate, toffee candy, raisins, figs, prunes. Maple syrup, vanilla, and a bit of roasted malts (but not much). This is sweet with almost zero bitterness. Wonderful.
Mouthfeel is an overwhelming 5/5 for me. I don't often give a 5, but this one deserves it. Insanely thick and viscous. With no carbonation, it's so nice. Overall, this was quite an experience. I'm a huge fan and I can't wait to see how this ages for a year.

Pours thick and viscous - jet black - virtually no head/carbonation. Aroma is woody with notes of dark fruit and perhaps some subtle spiciness. Taste is similar to the smell; full of barrel character, dark fruit, and just that subtle hint of spice that I can't quite put my finger on (cinnamon? nutmeg?) Mouthfeel is outrageous! Thick and decadent - far more so than any other BL Stasis I've tried.
Overall: this is a no-holds-barred barrel-aged stout meant to display and magnify the wonders that barrel aging can have on beer. I enjoyed this more than I enjoyed BBT - for comparison.

An angrily viscous ribbon fills the glass like a black candle, essentially snuffing out any attempt at conjuring a head, leaving an ominously still, glossy tar black surface. How's that for setting the mood?
A nose of luscious fudge and even melted marshmallow gives way to a flavor profile that adds more woody, pecan-like oak that's also got a little of that espresso tang I often find in Black Magicks before an accenting hint of amaretto emerges.
As thick and viscous as any Bottle Logic has ever been, and far moreso than any Voodoo stout I've had, the silky round body is almost syrupy but for a finely cutting carbonation that comes to a warming, mature finish.

Had on tap. Pitch oil black with a brown cap. Aromas of rich barrel with accompanying dark chocolate fudge, molasses, leather, dark fruits and a hint of earth. Incredible depth from the barrel, the wood and bourbon bring out the best in all aspects: take everything from the nose but now add brown sugar, pipe tobacco, wet forest floor, and gooey vanilla kissed additional chocolate, the double mash is tasted strongly and I can report it is a success! Feel is rich, thick, warm with booze, yet refined in the finish with an elevated barrel character. Would be perfect no-gimmick, fancy dessert beer to end the night
Note: Had a second time in a blind bottle share of ba stouts and won the evening, incredible tasting again
