16oz can from Brewers Haven. Amber colored body with some pink hues. Earthy aroma. Taste is sweet, light sugary notes. Not muchbofvthe lager coming through, just the beets.

From On the Fly in Boise, Idaho, 6 16oz cans for $12+
Poured from a pint can into a cold, wet mason jar. Frothy head, big and small bubbles, dissipating quickly to… nothing, no lacing. You can’t dink lacing!
Looks like hazy pink grapefruit juice. Smells a little like honey, like mead? I haven’t had a lot of mead.
Tastes like… a little like honey, I thought it was pleasantly dry, with a nice mouthfeel. Not sticky, but juicy. Beets? Well, I grow beets, eat them (raw, cooked, or dehydrated), juice them, drink them, don’t smoke them (yet), I didn’t find it beety, but a bit biscuity, wait… there is a kind of earthy aftertaste.
Proceeds help out with the Tree Fort Music Festival.
It was okay, but I don’t think I will purchase it in the future.

a very cool lager done with beets, a woodland empire beer but apparently brewed at lost grove, maybe a collaboration, not sure the story here, but they succeeded on the brew, whoever was primarily responsible for it. amazing label art too, very woodland empire there. its deeper than pink, but still light to look at, a washed out violet tone maybe, with a short and fizzy head on it, also a little bit pink, not quite clear but bright enough in the glass. the nose is somewhat minimal, not as earthy from the beets as expected, but i can tell they are in here and are real. some berry sort off fruitiness too, maybe blackberry or blueberry also in the mix, but i dont recall reading that on the can. the flavor presents the beets a little better, slightly woody and soil-esque, minerals and iron and the link, a nice low end in a very pale beer. i dont taste much grain, but i do get some of the lager yeast coming through, and even though this isnt quite crisp or bone dry, its well done enough to be quenching and refreshing, and its interesting enough with the beets to be a hard glass to set down, even though i think the level of refinement here could be improved to yield a better beer overall, cleaner, brighter, that kind of thing. i like the idea, i like the cause, i like the breweries involved, and i like the end result, even if its a step or two short of its full potential, no need to be too harsh on it, its a beet lager, and its cool. nice to see some local collaboration and some ambitious liquid come from it. i enjoyed this with spicy food and could have put down a number of them!
