Pours a light brown, but clear. Very dark for a saison. Khaki head fades to a thin bead. Scent is of plum with a noticeable citrus orange scent. Some peppery phenolics.

In th flavor the citrus comes through more prominently in the back end with a semisweet finish. General fruitiness plays of the black pepper notes well. Nice lively carbonation.

I find it misclassified as a saison. More of a Belgian Amber that is difficult to pin down.

Trans Mahogany

Served in a wine glass from a 760 mL bottle.

Fizzy dark khaki head a half finger thick. Dissipates quickly to a layer of lace. Dark brown body. 4.5

Dark fruit and banana. Spicy pepper notes. Sweet malt and subtle yeast. 4.25

Deep dark cherry notes meet dark chocolate. Banana yeast hints. Touch of booze. 4

It's an interesting blend of tripel and saison sensations...at times thick, creamy and malty, at others heavily carbonated. Altogether nice, albeit a tad boozy feeling. 4

Lovely concoction. Not sure what to classify this beer as, aside from just good.
