look: 4.25 | smell: 3.75 | taste: 3.75 | feel: 4 | overall: 3.75
500ml caged and corked bottle served at 48 degrees in a tulip. Pours a dull burnished orange with a rocky, 1.5 inch bright white head embedded with ringlets and craters. Head eventually settles into a creamy, consistent quarter inch head. Clarity is slightly hazy. Nose expresses candi sugar and light grassy notes. Taste follows nose - not much of the barrel is evident. Some light toasted malts come out in the middle and medicinal notes follow at the finish. Mouthfeel is light in body with a sparkling carbonation and a mild acidity. Overall - a solid saison. I really don't get any barrel notes - perhaps just the mild acidity and a hint of oak (more suggestive of the description than the actual presence); however, it was pleasant and drinkable nonetheless.
