One of our favorite double IPAs returns! Unit 28 is our rarely released DIPA featuring Galaxy hops. This beer is all about hops and uses three of our favorites - Galaxy, Simcoe and Mosaic. The foundation is set by a light, crisp malt profile and assertive bitterness.

Stopped by with my wife and daughter on the way up to Santa Barbara (and later Mammoth) on my first night of vacation. They both had to go the bathroom and I wanted to pick up some quality beer. Had stopped here last June on the way home from the Firestone Invitational and really liked the place. Picked up a 4-pack of this and a crowler of The Flue. Online description read, “One of our favorite Double IPAs returns! Unit 28 is our rarely released DIPA featuring Galaxy hops. Poured a light amber clear color with 1-to-2 fingers of fizzy off-white head. A few bubbles coming up from the bottom, but rather flat overall. Bad watery lacing. Poor retention. (Sight - 2.75)
Smelled Galaxy up front. Also floral, rose petals, papaya, white grapefruit, Simcoe, trashy Mosaic, berry, tangerine and peach blossom. Simcoe was leading the way from the can. (Smell - 4.00)
Tasted slightly better than the nose. Got Galaxy, Simcoe, floral, rose petals, papaya, peach, white grapefruit, tangerine peel, trashy Mosaic, berry, grass and lingering peppery spice. (Taste - 4.25)
Medium body. Oily-to-creamy texture. Soft carbonation. Spicy finish. (Feel - 4.25)
This was just an excellent DIPA. Loved it. (Overall - 4.25)

Whoa, this is one crazy DIPA. Galaxy, Simcoe, and Mosaic to be exact. Huge aromas and flavors of peach, tropical fruit, pine, and citrus dominate. As expected, this beer also packs a nice bitter punch and finishes dry.
