Long ago on a hot summer day a Bavarian innkeeper was besieged by a slew of thirsty cyclists. Short on beer he cleverly blended it with fruit juice… and the radler (German for cyclist) was born. Our free-wheeling combo of pure grapefruit juice and Last Duel Lager promises to quench thirst and replenish your fluids!

Appearance: Poured a cloudy lemonade yellow with a half finger of head that quickly disappeared. No lacing and not a lot of signs of carbonation. Usually when you have a pink can, you'd expect a bit of the same.

Smell: Grapefruit juice clashing somewhat with straw malt and a bit of wheat. Warming doesn't really help the case either way and the potency isn't bad.

Taste: It pretty much stays fairly even kilter throughout the beer, straw malt with grapefruit at the start with the grapefruit barely in control, then the two struggle for a bit before a bitter grapefruit snap ends the experience.

Mouthfeel: The carbonation is very lacking in this one and the lack of head does not help things. It doesn't really transition flavours very much, but I suppose points for keeping the beer consistent throughout the drinking. The bitter snap of grapefruit is all that exsists for an aftertaste, which if you are a big fan of grapefruit, you will like.

Drinkability: The saving grace of this beer is that it really then intention of this one. It's a low alchohol guzzler that refreshes you exceptionally well during a hot day. It's incredibly light and easy on the system, although for only 3.5% ABV it had better be.

Final Thoughts: It's a fairly unremarkable Grapefruit Raddler, whose place is the sweltering summer heat if you are in the area around Perth. Sadly, I've had several superior examples of Grapefruit Raddler and this one isn't one of the more impressive ones on my list.
