Canned January 2017; drank 3/30/17 @ the Yarchives.

Dark brown appearance.

A rough pour yielded a huge khaki head; decent lace.

Root beer, cinnamon & seltzer water notes in the nose.

Medium mouthfeel.

Seltzer water & root beer flavors up front; dry cinnamon notes on the finish.

Overall pretty watery & forgettable; not offensive but not remarkable, either.

Having just Had my first grissette the other day, I was expecting Miner Pursuit to be similar to the first: a farmer's saison-like blond.
It seems Middle Brow has re-interpreted the style since Miner Pursuit is clearly dark. But, I'm very much OK with that because it went very well with my meal of hearty soup.

Looking at Miner Pursuit and Smelling it, I wouldn't give it much of a rating compared to the competition. But the Taste is subtle enough to go with the food. Unfortunately, it finishes really dry: which eventually fights with the food's flavors.

I am a big fan of Middle Brow. I probably have Had Robyn more than any other saison in my life (and I found Robyn only six months ago.) I like Middle Brow's thoughtful approach toward beer and their graphics are first class. Their main problem is limited distribution. Miner Pursuit will not help them survive (but Robyn will.) I look forward to finding my third from Middle Brow.
