an exquisite beer, thanks to a homie for leaving this at my place a few months back! this really is hands down the best beer i have had from these guys. i wasnt all that impressed when i visited the brewery a couple summers ago, but this is really amazing stuff, aged for 20 months in wine barrels with wine grapes, its funky and bretty and mature, woody as can be, and complex and delicious, i loved this, it was a standout in a stellar session. its got a deep orange to rose color to it, bright and alive from the bottle, which is absolutely gorgeous as well! beautiful packaging here. the aroma is strong wood, vanilla, red wine, sweet candied fruit, orange peel, mature farmy brett, wet animal, raw wheat, tannins, and a little bit of citric acidity. in the flavor, the unification of the beer with the wine barrels and grapes is insane, there is so much wood to this, like liquid barrel, intense but amazing, and so nice with the fruity brett and the natural grape character in here. lots of red wine, but also lots of the actual fruit, cool to get both sides of it in the same drink. funk and orange and grape, full wheaty body, heavy wet oak, lively carbonation, this is one of a kind really, has aged super well, and represents a new high water mark for these guys. as good of a beer/wine hybrid as i have had in a long time, love the funk and wood being so forward! rustic and old worldy and awesome. brilliant brew!
