A - Pours clear, brick red, with brown undertones, and a minimal head and some lacing.
S - Nose has moderately pungent sour notes, a bit of cherry-like fruit, and a bit of alcohol warmth.
T - Follows the nose, with sourness in the open, a cherry and mild sweet note offering a contrast beneath, and a tart finish with just a hint of bitterness.
M - Moderate weight and mildly prickly acidity on the tongue, and a fairly bright, clean finish.
O - The key here is restraint. The sourness is present and core, but never unpleasant or overpowering. The feel does not trip into typical traps for the style, staying even and welcoming, and neither taxing nor coating the tongue with a cloying weight. I'm not the biggest fan of the style, but this makes a solid Flanders, and by a local brewery, too.
