Poured from 22oz bomber into a tulip. I believe this is a different beer than "Funky Treehouse" made by the same brewery.
Appearance: rich golden hue with a dash of haze and a good effervescence. Head is a finger of frothy white foam that dissipates pretty quickly.
Smell: sweet malt with a nice peary, orchardy aroma to it. It's hard for me to judge this, because this smells like a pretty good Belgian pale ale, but pretty much nothing like a saison. So it's good, just not to-style.
Taste: sweet and orchardy with a little bit of alcohol heat and maybe just the tiniest dash of funk. Is basically non-saison, although it would make a pretty decent tripel. Again, hard to judge. A good beer, but if you're looking for saison -- look elsewhere.
Mouthfeel: medium body with a moderate carbonation and creaminess.
Overall: I want to drink more of this, but it's a poorly named beer. The label says "Treehouse Saison Belgian-style ale", of which there is no doubt. I just wish it were a decent saison.
