Each year at the Craft Brewers Conference (CBC), Victory proudly showcases a variety of beers brewed exclusively for the German Hop Growers’ Association to demonstrate the diversity of German hop varieties.
In 2015, the focus is on three new hop varieties released in 2012, Mandarina Bavaria, Hallertau Blanc and Huell Melonin, in addition to a classic Hallertauer Pils with a “terroir-twist.”
Composition
Malt: Pilsner Malts
Hops: Blanc
ABV: 7.0%
Flavor
Fruity and spicy aromas merge with a hint of graininess is this light golden saison. Flavors of red apple and white wine precede hints of citrus, finishing with lingering notes of orange.
on to my review..
The color is golden with ample white head with fine bead and light hazed clarity. The smell is great -really nails the mix of Hallertau Blanc aroma mixed with vinous saison yeast ester bringing a white grape smell to the mix of yeast and hops. The feel is pretty resinous and dry with moderately high carbonation and low alcohol in the feel with fruity character and light spice.
The taste is excellent -it follows the nose with a great amount of hop character in the saison which is vinous tangy and floral too with slight spice accent and the pilsner malt serves as a nice base to showcase the hops with yeast blending well with the hop flavors as it finishes on the dry side. Overall this is great I would buy a case if they bottled it...too bad it was a limited draft only option.
