Silver Tongue Saison

July 7th, 2015 - Blue Spruce's Saison has a lot of moving parts, and gets a little dirty and funky where traditional versions of the style might remain clean and crisp. The scent is mild with some pilsener like notes, and wet stone and a touch of roasted nuts. The body is substantial though, and slightly sweet. But it takes several sips to get some additional dimensionality. First is a somewhat stronger alcohol note than I'm used to for saisons. Second is a slight off flavor in the aftertaste, which transforms into a light skunkiness. But the grain bill before that aftertaste is rich and satisfying.
