Very light coloured cream ale with a salmon colour as the main appearance factor. An extremely small amount of head, almost none at all. Smells very fruity and floral like a summertime drink. You get a nice hint of sweetness at the end of the sip from the cherries but is a little lacking in taste aside from that. I could see this being very good in the hot sun as a chilled refreshment. It has a very small amount of carbonation and has a very smooth texture but is a little watery as well.

Pours a slightly hazy copper colour with a tinge of pink. Smell is fruity, not necessarily of cherry. Taste has a hint of maraschino cherry on top of the sweetness of their usual Troll Cream Ale. Mouthfeel is nice, rightly carbonated. This is a nice cherry beer

Tallboy can from the LCBO; coded 20043L and served slightly chilled.
Pours foggy golden-amber with a few floaties, graced with half a finger of foamy white head that fizzles off within a minute or so. A tight collar of froth is the only survivor of note; no lace to start with, and minimal production thereafter. There is a hint of cherry on the nose, but beyond that its aroma is not dissimilar from its unadulterated cousin - it's got clean grainy pale malts, some grassiness and a touch of honey sweetness.
A decent fruit ale: the cherry isn't the focus, which is my preference when it comes to that specific fruit and its inclusion in beer. It tastes of grainy, bready pale malts and cherry, with hints of grassy hay, lemon zest and floral hop bitterness developing on the back end. More cherry skin into the finish, with a touch of metallicity. Medium in body, with moderate carbonation levels that give this cream ale some much needed bite; it does feel a bit slicker/heftier than I'd prefer from a 5% beer, but its drinkability doesn't really suffer.
Final Grade: 3.6, a B grade. I tossed back my glass of Cherry Troll quickly enough, but at the end of the day I'd rather be drinking Troll Toll - while its namesake fruit has been incorporated into the base beer competently enough, the end result isn't an improvement IMO. Either way, this fruitier variant may very well appeal to consumers who are not necessarily beer geeks, or beer drinkers at all, making it a potentially excellent choice for an LCBO sku.
