473 mL can from the LCBO; coded 20253 and served slightly chilled.
Pours a clear straw yellow hue, giving rise to one finger of soapy, bubbly, sparkling white head that lasts for a couple of minutes before dissipating entirely. A thin collar and some filmy wisps on the surface are all that remain, save for a small amount of webby lace that was flung about in the process. It smells mostly of grainy malts and doughy bread, with hints of cereal sweetness. Maybe a touch of grassy hay in there too, but it's faint.
It's a passable, albeit unremarkable craft lager. Its flavour profile basically follows the simplicity of the nose - grainy at the forefront, followed by notes of corny cereal sweetness and bready pale malts that last through the remainder of the sip. Weakly grassy hops provide the barest hint of bitterness before a slightly grainy-sweet aftertaste that quickly fades to off dry. Light in body, with moderate carbonation levels that gently agitate the surface of the palate, giving a little bite to this smooth, sessionable lager. It's as easy to toss back as Moosehead or Sleeman OD, but not much more interesting.
Final Grade: 3.49, on the high end of a B-. Refined Fool has produced its share of lagers over the years, and I could be wrong about this, but I don't think any of them have ever really nailed down a spot in their list of mainline, year-round beers - they've mostly just been one-offs and rotating seasonals here and there. Ontario Craft Lager is not an especially memorable brew, but it does help to fill that 'everyman's beer' hole in their portfolio - at least, for those who aren't fans of their pretty solid cream ale. Worth a peek if you enjoy simple craft lagers.

Better than your typical macro lager, this one pours the familiar straw colour with the familiar 1cm head. The smell/taste is cereals and malty and not much else. I would buy this again to support small business but I would not intentionally seek it out
